Our Story

Nature’s Designs is more than just a brand—it’s a legacy of creativity, craftsmanship, and passion deeply rooted in our Bahamian heritage. Our journey began in Freeport, Grand Bahama, where my father, a skilled carpenter, dedicated himself to his craft to provide for our family. Growing up, I spent countless hours on construction sites alongside him, watching as raw materials transformed into something beautiful. This early exposure ignited a love for both construction and creativity that has stayed with me ever since.

After relocating to New Providence as a teenager, my interests expanded beyond construction. I immersed myself in art, carpentry, and pre-engineering programs at school while spending my free time sewing and crocheting. A pivotal moment in my journey came in 2018, during my final year of high school, when I participated in the prestigious Build-A-Bridge Competition. Competing alongside my all-girls team, we made history by winning the contest with a bridge that showcased both technical skill and creative ingenuity. This victory led to a summer internship at Integrated Building Services (IBS), which eventually turned into full-time employment, allowing me to see my creative designs take form in the real world.

However, my creative passions extended beyond engineering. My father and I always enjoyed crafting unique pieces, and during the pandemic, with more time at home, we decided to merge our skills into something special. We combined my love for design and craftsmanship with his expertise in woodworking, leading to the birth of Nature’s Designs in 2022. With my younger sister Kaleah’s help, the brand found its name—a perfect reflection of our inspiration drawn from the natural beauty of the Bahamas.

Our Work

At Nature’s Designs, we create handcrafted jewelry inspired by the stunning landscapes and vibrant flora of our island home. Our collections capture the essence of Bahamian nature, turning it into wearable art.

The Bougainvillea Collection

The bougainvillea, with its brilliant pink, purple, orange, and white hues, is a staple of Bahamian gardens, including our own family home. This collection encapsulates its delicate beauty, featuring intricate drop, dangle, and stud earrings infused with the vibrant colors of these beloved flowers. We are currently expanding this collection to include rings and necklaces, ensuring our customers can carry a piece of the islands with them wherever they go.

The Seashell Collection

A personal favorite, this collection embodies my love for the beach—the intoxicating combination of salt, sun, and sand. We incorporate authentic seashells and the soft pink and tan tones of our unique Bahamian sands into our designs, creating timeless, ocean-inspired pieces. Built to be both beautiful and durable, these designs reflect the serenity and resilience of the sea.

Over the past year, we have had the opportunity to showcase our work at various local pop-up events and vendor partnerships, including Craft Cottage, where our Bougainvillea Collection has been met with admiration. Seeing people connect with our jewelry and share in our love for Bahamian artistry has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of our journey. Our goal is to expand internationally and eventually establish our own storefront to bring our vision to a wider audience.

Overcoming Challenges

As a young and growing business, we have faced our fair share of challenges. Navigating the economic landscape while sourcing high-quality materials and expanding our reach has been a learning experience. Generating consistent sales and securing vendor partnerships are ongoing hurdles, but our passion for our craft keeps us motivated. Maintaining a unique voice in the jewelry industry is paramount to us, which is why we occasionally take a step back to reset and seek inspiration from nature—it has never failed us.

Our Perspective on Risk-Taking

Entrepreneurship is in my blood. Growing up, I witnessed my parents take bold risks in their businesses, setting ambitious goals and working tirelessly to achieve them. Though I didn’t always recognize the struggles they faced, I now understand and appreciate their resilience. They taught me that taking risks isn’t about being reckless—it’s about believing in an idea and pursuing it with determination, even without guaranteed results.

I know my biggest risks are still ahead of me, but I embrace them with confidence, knowing that each challenge presents an opportunity for growth. Nature’s Designs is more than just a business—it’s a reflection of my family’s legacy, our love for creativity, and our deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the Bahamas.
